Heartsong Pets Rescue and Rehabilitation Center

My name is Lindsay, and I founded Heartsong Pets in January 2021 in hopes to provide a calming, social outlet resource for families during the Pandemic. We began with small group classes at our barn in East Vancouver, WA, focusing on teaching yoga, practicing stress relief techniques, and equine activities with our much loved herd of horses.
Since then our program has evolved to include smaller animals and outreach to local schools and assisted living facilities. In addition to helping the animals in our care thrive, we are committed to providing educational outreach opportunities in our community. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit and are thrilled to have you partner with us!
Our Story
Our Mission
At Heartsong Pets Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, we focus on animal assisted therapy outreach and art therapy education while ensuring that first and foremost, the animals in our care are loved and thriving.
Participants in our community outreach programs develop stress management skills and build creativity and confidence while working with animals. We have connections with a network of Clark County licensed psychologists who refer their clientele to our programs, many of whom are in the foster care system.
We teach a skillset to our participants that can be life changing, both physically and emotionally. We teach relaxation techniques and help build confidence and self esteem, yoga and calming breathing exercises. These are skills that are beneficial for a lifetime regardless of age or social status. There are tangible, measurable therapeutic benefits that occur when people interact with animals. Studies have shown that interaction with animals causes biochemical changes in the patient's brain and release neurotransmitters that improve mood and cause relaxation and suppression of anxiety.
We can completely customize a workshop for your organization featuring a visit from some of our rescue animals and can include the following:
Brainstorming Activities:
Identifying positive stress management strategies.
Relaxation Techniques:
Including breathing and yoga exercises and take home resources.
Hands on Animals:
Benefits of working with animals include relaxation, stress relief, and confidence building.
Art or Team Building Activities:
Paint, sculpt, design and rely on your teammates in fun exercises and art activities.
